I am on the tall side, 5'9'', and usually wear size 14 pants, and those pants do fit me just right. I was concerned about waist being a bit high, but it is still comfortable to wear and did not feel like I am being strangled. I used the size chart to choose my size. I normally wear a larger size but my measurements matched a smaller size so I used that. Also I am 5'4 and I chose short for length which was perfect. I have not washed these yet. They do fit great. Color nice and well made. I will use these on a trip I am planning.
